Welcome Summer

Welcome Series II

The gate is left open just for you – so come on in and sit a spell, kick your shoes off, eat supper, and maybe sing a song. This is what we were meant to do with each other and in the Welcome Series, it is this “invitation” that I have painted for you. Sure, it is a attractive cabin that we would all love to experience, or maybe even retreat to.  But more than that, I want you to experience the longing of being wanted and sought after. So, please, come on up to the rocking chair and sit for a while so you can hear the sounds of the night creatures and feel the warmth and love of good friends. You may not have felt the invitation of your presence strongly before, but I want you to feel it now, on this summer evening – Welcome!

We are very happy to announce the arrival of a new artist to our galleries. His name is Abraham Hunter. Oh yeah and he is only 18yrs old!  Abraham works in oil, acrylic and occasionally watercolor and strives for extreme photorealism most of the time because he feels it properly honors God’s handiwork by showing all the intricate details. He often portrays somewhat “utopia” like scenes because he likes to imagine what it would have been like in the Garden of Eden and wants his viewers to have an encounter with a world lacking of death and turmoil. “I think we get far more fulfillment from that rather than the intense drama of life and death, predator and prey, which we struggle through here on earth.”

“If there is one thing I want to capture in my work and be able to share it with my collectors, it would be the abundance and beauty that I enjoy from a close relationship with Jesus Christ and an awe for His marvelous creation.”

Hello all !

I am excited to announce that Mark Keathely will be back for another signing event April 21st. Anyone who purchases one of his limited edition prints from now until the event will receive a special freehand sketch from the artist on the back of their canvas!

The Welcome series is straight from my heart. I love life in the country. The first day we moved from the city to the country we finished moving in and then stepped out onto the back porch that evening and felt totally different – like we were our own people – we weren’t following others any more. It took some adjustments for sure, the conveniences of town were missed for the first couple of months. I think we went into town at least once every day, but soon we learned how to manage that part of this new life and we set out to build our dream. Now don’t get me wrong, life in the country isn’t a dream, it was just our dream. The work load of the demands of animals and land weighs a bit, but it offered me something to do with my boys that we needed and it served us well. We found out, though, that all our friends (who had come by our city home daily) didn’t want to make the trip out to our new place in the country and we missed the folks that would often drop by to visit. So much so, did I miss it, that I invited the UPS guy in for coffee on occasion. So with this idyllic setting in the Smokey Mountains, I did a “no no” and left the gate open so you would feel the longing of your presence and the invitation for your company. I hope this open gate expresses your hearts desire for others to “enter in”. The company of accepting friends and neighbors is the richest of blessings – Hope sincerely hope you have this wealth.

Welcome Spring – A time for Renewal

The seasons of life ebb and flow in a way that teaches us to be patient and wait. Sometimes we have lean – dry times and other times we have vibrant growing times. It doesn’t mean that something is wrong or that we have been forgotten, or that we are doing it all right and are the “blessed” ones. For the Lord rains down on the just and the unjust alike. He cares for everyone alike and he longs to see them find fullness and renewal in their lives. In Welcome Spring, I’ve depicted the exciting time of life when the fragrance of life is wonderful, too much to contain, and the beauty spills over for all to see. The excitement of new birth and buds awaken the senses and make us feel alive, and give us the promise that the cold winters of our lives will not always be. There is such hope and expectation in the spring and I hope this painting stirs up that longing in your heart to see things grow and blossom. Go ahead and plant the seeds of acceptance with your estranged son, or wayward daughter; dig up the weeds of resentment and jealousy with someone you have grown to dislike and replace them with the fragrant flowers of forgiveness and love. It is a time for renewal.

Little Mermaid

The creation of “The Little Mermaid” much like “Tinker Bell and Peter Pan Fly to Neverland”,  presented special technical and aesthetic challenges for me that were not present in most of my other Disney paintings.  Thematically, this film deals with the clash between two worlds and how to best integrate them together.  So it was with my painting.  I had to bring the undersea world of Ariel’s childhood into peace with the land-bound life she so longed for with her beloved, Prince Eric.  I felt the sea life at the bottom of the composition did this, allowing both parts of Ariel’s life, past and future, in all their regal and colorful glory.  I truly hope the loyal fans of the film enjoy my narrative tale of “The Little Mermaid”.

We just received Mark’s Newest release today. It is titled “Lazy Boy”

This is a great piece for us here in the Smoky Mountains. This is only going to be released in an 18×24 size. He will have 195 in the signed and numbered edition and 25 in the artist proofs. We are lucky enough to have the original painting hanging in our gallery!

It was great to get to meet so many new people and also get to see some old friends. Clifford Land was the artist visiting with us this time.
