The last time I was hiking in the red rocks area of Arizona, I found myself kind of lost and far from the trail. As I crested a dry, dusty ridge, I came across a little trickling river beneath the imposing Cathedral Rock. This painting is what I envisioned while looking at the sun striking the towering rock formation. In the Bible, God promises, “I will make rivers flow on barren heights and springs in the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water and parched ground into springs.”

In this painting, a fierce desert storm flashes its frightening power and darkness, but the rock seems like a mighty fortress against the rain and lightning as it glows in the light of heaven above. Even though the passing storm was furious, it provided the necessary rain to make a glistening river in the parched valley. These wild mustang horses have endured the storm and are now bravely emerging to drink in the healing waters. I hope the symbolism in this painting of the hope and refreshment that comes after the storms of life speaks to you and blesses your home.

Oh, Holy Night by Robert Finale

Oh Holy Night by Robert Finale

While painting “Oh Holy Night”, I was joyfully reminded of Christmas’s past and of the wonderful one’s still to come. Susie and I stroll past the manger scene, understanding all it represents, our steps muffled by the newly fallen snow. A gentleman loads a carefully chosen Christmas tree into the bed of his truck as a warm glow radiates through the stained glass windows of the church, like a beacon welcoming worshipers to share in the love of this evening.

Oh holy night! The stars are brightly Shining……………………

New York Memories by Robert Finale

New York Memories by Robert Finale

As the sun starts to head home for the evening in the west, my wife and I stroll along the Brooklyn Bridge Park. The view before us is astonishingly beautiful. The vibrant orange, yellow, and red hues from the setting sun paint a breathtaking picture before me. As I gaze in wonderment at the canvas laid before me, we stop for a quick bite to eat at a hot dog vendor. As we sit down to begin our meal, we notice the folks around us taking full advantage of what was left of the day.

While the hustle and bustle of Manhattan continues, the ships and boats glide across the waters of the East river to destinations unknown. In the distance, we can see the statue of Liberty, as she welcomes and bids farewell to all who travel to and from the great city.

As the last bit of daylight turns to night, the bright yellow of the lights dotting the old Brooklyn Bridge burn bright, almost greeting the evening with open arms. As these brilliant lights illuminate a path to the city, I look to my wife and state, “I believe it is time for dinner and a show.”

Casino de Monte Carlo by Robert Finale

CasinodeMonteCarloRobertFinale

Monte Carlo, Monaco home of the glamorous palace Casino De Monte Carlo, with 700 years of Royal history, the gem of Monaco is tucked between the French medieval villages of France and the stunning Alps of Switzerland.

Here we sit drinking wine at the famous Café de Paris watching the full moon light up the Mediterranean Sea. I am inspired by the 19th Century architecture of the Grand Casino. In the front lies a beautiful fountain that is surrounded by tall moving palm trees swaying in the sea breeze. The wonderful trance is broken as I hear the engines revving as they like to top off the scenery with the glamorous, most impressive cars in the world lined up in front of the palace. You can almost feel the excitement of the grand prix that runs right through these streets of Monte Carlo.
